Ben Archer: I worked in the remainder and bargain book industry for over 40 years, beginning as a remainder buyer at the Strand Book Store in New York, and going on to work with several remainder and overstock wholesalers in purchasing and sales, ending up at Book Country Clearing House, where I retired in October of 2022. Book Country Clearing House is located in a 300,000 square foot warehouse in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area. They have contracts with many of the top publishers to purchase all of their returns, and they are sorting those returns and overstocks around the clock. The result is the best inventory in the industry.
